Welcome to CCBRT

Habari!

Today is officially day #6 of my journey, day 4 of living in Tanzania. Every day we are discovering something new about this place, it can be very fun and frustrating at the same time.

Much of our time at CCBRT thus far has been in the staff room. The only PT here, Sabas, is on "leave" and will return shortly. Until then we have been hanging out with the OTs and a rehabilitation assistant, Ruston.

After wondering around CCBRT for a couple days I have become more familiar with the facility and have been able to capture a few good pictures. The facility is quite large and very beautiful.

These are the PT and OT treatment rooms.

CCBRT does something called Week Intensive Treatment (WIT) for 3 weeks out of every month. This is where families from all over come and spend 1 week at CCBRT while their child receives rehabilitation services as well as visits with various physicians. Parents learn about treating their child with disabilities and also get various education on how to empower them.

CCBRT has several "apartment" style complexes that families can stay in while their child receives therapy.

This is another one of the treatment rooms. I believe some wheelchair seating assessments happen in here.

I love the walls of this place!

Just some of the outside areas of CCBRT.

The playground is awesome because it uses a lot of recycled material to make the swings and the other equipment.

Yesterday Krista and I walked around on the streets a bit and attempted to eat out. After wandering around the crazy streets of Moshi in the hot sun for a while we finally reached our destination. KNCU or the "Union Cafe" was a nice place to get a fruit smoothie and relax a bit after work.

Pizza and a mango/banana smoothie!

I will write more tomorrow about our adventures in the village!

Kesho!
